The Bear Story Summary in English

Once a lady lived on the border of a big forest. She had a pet bear, she had brought it up. As years passed, bear grew to be a big one. He was very amiable and did not wish to harm anyone. Even the children and dogs played with him. He ate out of the same plate with dogs. He craved to have apples but had to satisfy by watching apples that fell to the ground. Only at night he was put on chain.

On Sunday he was put on chain as his mistress went to spend day with his married sister. On one Sunday, half way she heard cracking of a tree branch. When she looked back, she was horrified to see the bear at full speed. The lady was very angry. She shrieked at him and even hit on the nose. With great difficulty the bear turned back.

When the lady came back, she got very angry. She went to scold the bear but cook interfered to tell that bear had behaved in the best way. At that time lady realised that she had met some other bear.

Freedom is life. Ever since man has been born on this earth, man craves for freedom. If a bird is kept in the cage and tied with golden chains. Once a man named Abbu Khan lived in Almora. He lived all alone except kept goats as pets. He trained goats as his children. He put a string around neck of each goat. The goats pulled the string and disappeared beyond hills. These goats were killed by the old wolf. One day when all goats left him, he felt sad. He thought that now he would not keep pets but still he decided to keep a young goat Chandni. But now he was mistaken. The young goats also wanted to go to the hills and enjoy the hills. Abbu Khan wanted to stop Chandni by keeping in the hut but still Chandni ran away.

She came across the wolf, who siezed with her. Chandni stood on her legs and behaved like a brave soldier. It was a good fight. Though Chandni was defeated and killed but still she is a winner.

The story begins in Madison Square where Soapy a homeless, jobless man is searching for a place to stay as winter is fast approaching. His hopes are not to sail to some high destination but to just reach prison on Blackwell’s Island.

Bringing Up Kari Summary in English

The narrator of the story was nine-years old when he was given to take care of five months old elephaiìt, Kan. Both ofthein grew together. The first thing which Kan did was to save the life of a boy. Every morning narrator took Kan for a bath which he enjoyed. After the bath, narrator vent to get delicate and tender twigs. One day the narrator heard a strange sound. 11e ran very fast and found that elephant was struggling very hard in the water.

Kari pushed narrator in water so that the boy could be saved. Narrator tried all to save them but still currei it was pushing them. Kan pushed theni with his trunk and great effort they shot like an arrow. Finally Kan pulled theni both ashore.

Kari was like a baby and full of mischief. One day he developed the taste of bananas and since then he took all steps to steal the bananas. The narrator was scolded by his parents for eating up all the fruits. But finally it was discovered, that it was Kari who had eaten all the fruits. Narrator was very annoyed and scolded him.

इस कहानी का लेखक जब नौ वर्ष का था तब उसे पाँच महीने के हाथी कारी को ध्यान के लिए सौंपा गया। दोनों एक साथ बड़े हुए। कारी ने एक बच्चे की जिंदगी भी बचाई। हर सुबह लेखक कारी को नहलाने ले जाता था जिसका वह आनंद लेता था।
