Freedom is life. Ever since man has been born on this earth, man craves for freedom. If a bird is kept in the cage and tied with golden chains. Such a bird will not feel happy but would rather grow thin and sad. The bird who can fly upto the limits of sky will make its spirits soar. In the same way for Chandni freedom is life. Even if she knows that she might be killed but still she yearns for green hills and sun bathed tops. One cannot bow before anyone at the cost of freedom.

Chandni  Summary in English

Once a man named Abbu Khan lived in Almora. He lived all alone except kept goats as pets. He trained goats as his children. He put a string around neck of each goat. The goats pulled the string and disappeared beyond hills. These goats were killed by the old wolf. One day when all goats left him, he felt sad. He thought that now he would not keep pets but still he decided to keep a young goat Chandni. But now he was mistaken. The young goats also wanted to go to the hills and enjoy the hills. Abbu Khan wanted to stop Chandni by keeping in the hut but still Chandni ran away.

She came across the wolf, who siezed with her. Chandni stood on her legs and behaved like a brave soldier. It was a good fight. Though Chandni was defeated and killed but still she is a winner.

किसी जमाने में अल्मोड़ा में अब्बू खान नामक एक व्यक्ति रहता था। वह अकेला रहता था सिवाए पालतू जानवरों के रूप में बकरियों के। वह बकरी को अपना बच्चा मानता था। वह हर बकरी के गले में रस्सा डाल कर रखता था। बकरी रस्सा खींचकर पहाड़ी पर गायब हो जाती थी। इन बकरियों को भेड़िया मार देता था। जब सारी बकरियाँ उसे छोड़कर चली गईं तो उसे बहुत दुःख हुआ। उसने सोचा कि अब वह पालतू जानवर नहीं रखेगा पर फिर भी उसने एक युवा बकरी चाँदनी को रखने की सोची। पर यह भी भूल हो गई। वह युवा बकरी भी पहाड़ी पर जाकर पहाड़ी का मजा लेना चाहती थी। अब्बू खान चाँदनी को रोकना चाहता था। पर चाँदनी झोपड़ी से भी भाग गई।

वह भेड़िए के पास आई और उससे लड़ाई के लिए तैयार हो गई। चाँदनी अपनी टाँगों पर खड़ी होकर बहादुर सिपाही की तरह व्यवहार करने लगी। यद्यपि चाँदनी हार गई और मर गई फिर भी वह विजेता बनी रही है।
