All the three, Jerome, George and Harris, are the worst packers. But out of these three Jerome can be considered a better packer than the rest of two. He packs the bag. He takes a lot of time in completing this job. He has to reopen the bag three times because of his forgetful nature. But he does not make any harm to the things by breaking and smashing them.
On the other hand, George and Harris are the worst packers. They start packing the hampers. They perform their job totally in disorder. They make a lot of harm to the things. They start with breaking a cup. Harris packs strawberry jam on the top of a tomato and squashes it. They put things and cannot find them when they are needed.
George puts his slipper on butter. It sticks to the sole of his slipper. They scrape it and put on a chair. Harris sits on that chair and it sticks to his back. In this way they create a lot of chaos in packing.

This is a humorous story. Three friends decide to go on a trip. The night before the start of the journey, they decide to pack the things. The humour lies in the difference between what they say and what they do. Each of them boasts of being an expert in packing. First of all, the author offers to pack the things. He forgets to pack things. He packs and unpacks a number of times.
He finishes at 10.05 p.m.. But George and Harris are not satisfied with his packing. They start packing hampers. But they create a complete chaos. They break a cup. They put strawberry jam on the tomato and squash it. George treads on the butter and it sticks to his slipper.
They scrape it off with a knife and put it on the chair. Then Harris sits on it and it sticks to his back. They search all over the room for the butter. तब उसने हर चीज को एक-एक करके हिलाया। आखिर उसे अपना टुथ-बुश एक जूते के अंदर मिला। उसने फिर से सामान पैक किया। अब जॉर्ज ने उससे पूछा कि क्या उसने साबुन पैक किया है। उसने फैसला किया कि वह फिर से पैकिंग नहीं करेगा। मगर उसने देखा कि उसने अपनी तंबाकू की थैली अंदर पैक कर दी थी। इसलिए उसने दुबारा बैग खोला और फिर से पैकिंग की। वह 10.05 पर पैकिंग पूरी करने में सफल हुआ।

12. निस्संदेह, इस सबके बीच में मोंटमोरेंसी (कुत्ता) भी था। जीवन में मोंटमोरेंसी की अभिलाषा है कि वस्तुओं के बीच में टॉग अड़ाए और गालियाँ खाए। अगर वह ऐसी जगह में घुसकर बैठ सकता हो जहाँ उसकी जरूरत नहीं है और पूरी तरह मुसीबत बने और लोगों को पागल करे और उन्हें मजबूर करे कि वे उसके सिर पर चीजें फेंके तो उसे लगता था कि उसका दिन बेकार नहीं गया।

किसी को मजबूर करना कि वह उस पर से लुढ़के, और उसे लगातार एक घंटे तक गालियाँ दे उसके जीवन का सबसे बड़ा लक्ष्य एवं इरादा है और जब वह ऐसा करने में सफल हो जाता है तो उसका घमंड एकदम असहनीय बन जाता है।
18. वह आया और वस्तुओं पर उसी समय बैठा, जब उन्हें पैक करने की आवश्यकता थी और वह इस पक्के विश्वास में जी रहा था कि जब भी जॉर्ज एवं हैरिस किसी चीज के लिए हाथ आगे बढाएंगे तो यह उसका ठंडा गीला नाक ही होगा जिसकी उन्हें तलाश थी। उसने अपनी टाँग जैम में डाल दी और उसने चम्मचों को बिखरा दिया और उसने ढोंग किया कि नींबू चूहे हैं और येले में घसकर तीन को मार दिया. इससे पहले कि हैरिस उसे फ्राइंग पैन से पीट सकता।
